First platform for timber traders uses novomind iSHOP

HolzLand trade group makes online shop available to partners / novomind iPIM supplies the product data

HolzLand is one of the largest communities of timber traders in Europe. The trade group has now launched a central HolzLand online shop, which serves as the first platform for timber traders and marks an important move forward in the group’s digitization strategy. To implement the shop, HolzLand has signed up the software experts from novomind. Designed as a digital marketplace, the online shop builds on novomind iSHOP, a flexible, high-performance SaaS commerce solution. It pools the products and services of various timber traders at www.holzland.de.

Timber traders selling their products on the platform benefit from a central port of call for the customer. “That was the main challenge we faced,” says Stefan Grieben, COO of novomind. “Each trader has its own access to the platform, through which they can log in and design the individual contents and the grid of their starting page.” HolzLand acts as an intermediary for the orders in the background.

Good product data are a must for every good online shop and this was true also for the HolzLand platform. novomind iPIM, a product information management system HolzLand had been using successfully for five years already, therefore served as the basis for the product data. The information on the individual products was supplied by the respective manufacturers and edited by HolzLand’s in-house PIM team with the help of novomind iPIM to create a uniform basis. “As we had been working with novomind for a long time, our requirements were understood and implemented very quickly. The project team was running smoothly virtually from the start and additional functionalities were realized flexibly in the course of the project,” says Christian Haltermann, Head of Digital Services at HolzLand, who was happy about the good cooperation.

As the shop is launched, a total of 60 traders are represented on the platform, with more to follow in the course of the year.

About HolzLand

HolzLand is one of the largest communities of timber traders in Europe and has partners in the DACH region, northern Italy, Benelux, Norway and the Czech Republic. The industry network comprises over 450 specialist timber stores of different formats and sizes – from pure-play wholesalers to specialist stores for end consumers. Wholesale-relevant product groups account for about two thirds of the total purchasing volume. Purchasing is one of the main pillars and is characterized by intensive work in specialist groups, purchasing campaigns and volume bundling as well as the implementation of new product ranges, e.g. timber-related building materials. HolzLand’s sales and marketing performance is no less convincing. The head office supports the partners in the systematic evaluation of locations, stores and competitors and identifies levers for the successful performance of each individual member company. HolzLand’s comprehensive e-commerce strategy also plays an important role. The product information management system (PIM) successfully used by the timber traders serves as the data basis.
